Reporting to the Product Development Supervisor
The Laboratory Technician will participate in the general running and upkeep of the R&D laboratories and assist scientists with routine molecular biology experiments and environmental screening. This role is based on-site and involves both a lab-based and office-based component.
Main Duties:
- Ensure equipment calibrations are completed in a timely manner
- Track details and location of all laboratory equipment
- Liaise with Quality department to ensure compliance within R&D
- Perform weekly environmental screening of all R&D labs
- Monitoring and restocking of general lab consumables and PPE in all R&D labs
- Stocktaking and ordering of lab consumables and reagents
- Tracking, receiving and proper storage of all lab deliveries
- Assist in the drafting and updating of general laboratory SOPs
- Assist Scientists with PCR based experiments and data compilation
- Participate in monthly decontamination of all R&D lab
Essential Criteria:
- Qualification in Science or related discipline
- Ability to work on own initiative, as well as in a collaborative team environment
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must be tolerant to change, have a positive attitude, and be open to learning new skills
- Full Driver’s License
Desirable Criteria:
- General Laboratory experience
- Quality experience
- Experience working as part of a team
